Stuff from my short!

Working on an animated short so I'm uploading stuff, mostly for my teacher. But you can look too, it's okay. Two backgrounds in progress (still working on the greyscale on one and the other needs cleanup) and a quick style shot to visualize what the end product should look like. The animatic (essentially, my storyboards) is being in queue on vimeo right now, but my page is here. Should be available for viewing forthwith.

Scritch Scratch Sketch...

So, some of the stuff I've done lately. Sketches mostly but I'll look for other stuff too (lies, I delete the screens already, oops?). No explaining, it's too hot. Ask in the comments if you want though.

Update

Seems I never posted it here so... I upgrade and reorganized by my shop. More prints and a few things coming soon. Hopefully, a few things coming very soon. There's also finished versions of both Tiffany Blews and Dr. Benzedrine on my DA (link in sidebar).

I'm working on an artbook, a visual interpretation of Fall Out Boy's Folie a Deux. You've seen some of the work in it or will. Namely, Tiffany Blews, Smoke Rings, and the Suitehearts. There's still more to come though. I'll at least have one more big piece that I'll post online. For the rest, you'll have to wait until the book's release to buy and see. I might do a preview or something but that's it. Honestly, this is shaping up to look like two or three artists worked on it instead of just one and I don't know how I feel about that. We'll see when it comes to printing time, I guess.

Non-FOB related art front. I've got a few pieces as thumbnails ready so those should be coming soon. Rogue, Crimson Viper, and Ivy & Harley as well as at least one original print inspired by Janelle Monae's Cybertronic Purgatory.

I've also got work to do on two animated theses. Shall be starting in on that soon. Hopefully one is 3D. Really, that's all I want... Storyboards/animatics and design sheets forthcoming, I think.

If you're wondering why there's no actual art to show for all this supposed working, it's because I am currently sans power cord for my laptop. Thankfully, Apple's replacing it for me via overnight. I think however, that won't be happening today due to the intense current rain. My laptop has all the programs I use, the scanner installed, everything. The power cord going was maybe a blessing and maybe a wrench in my plans. I've gotten a lot done but none of it can be finished, only started. Hopefully, the replacement comes soon and you won't have to sit through another wall of text.

Tiffany Blews (Dear Gravity...) Progress

If you're following me on twitter, you'll be privy to all sorts of things! Not just my inane chatter, but things like progress updates on the stuff I'm working on! Currently working on my Tiffany Blews print, the Sad Statue (Road Kamelot and Allen Walker with Maria cameo from D.Gray-man) print, and the sexy pinups of Gambit, Sephiroth, and Viral. Portraits are done and I made the edits to Smoke Rings. Man, this whole process is insane... I might go crazy doing all these prints. At least I won't have many to do for New York Anime Festival. By the way, I'm going to NYAF...

Follow the twitter for updates as well as live art streams. Because I totes do live streaming now. livestream.com/madpierrot.

For finished work, check CGHub and deviantART. Links in the sidebar!

Touch me, baby, but don't mess up my hair...

Oh, Lady Gaga lyrics... Anyways, print progress! This here is the sketch for the sexified Sephiroth print. I'm having a lot of fun with the sketch but I KNOW I'm going to hate it when it comes to the inks. Which... are really only inks in name. Whatever. Here it is, with bonus face closeup (and a view of the cover for the new Cobra Starship album, Hot Mess). You'll probably be able to follow my progress tomorrow on my Twitter. By the way, I fail SO HARD at eyes. I can never make both look like they belong on the same face. T^T

No guaruntees though. Mooshu and I are doing a Tank Girl collab, effective tomorrow. She's doing the base sketch, I'm doing clothes, she's doing inks, I'm doing colors. We're both thumbnailing and coming up with stuff. Look forward to it!

EDIT FOR GAMBIT PROGRESS! His flats are done. His, ahem, body hair will be a finishing touch. As will Sephiroth's. Surely, this will make the tweenie anime loving girls squeal and flock to my table at cons. Also, anatomy and skin practice, woo! And hair. I like doing hair...

Sketch Cards

So, I've been doing these sketch cards for, like, three days for absolutely no reason. I've got three right now and I'm working on more. They're in the order I did them, actually.

First is Emo Boy, whose speech bubble now has appropriately emo lyrics (from the hidden spoken word track part of "...but home is nowhere" from AFI's Sing The Sorrow).

Second is this... Audrey II (Little Shop Of Horrors) thing. I don't know, really I don't.

Third are my newest characters, Bear Thing and Squishy from the Tiffany Blews print. Bear Thing is a robot companion who doesn't really do much of anything. He was designed to be a protector but, well, he's not very fast and can only waddle. He's not going to do a good job of protecting anything. The bear suit is meant to make him look deceptively cute. Squishy is meant to alert him to potential threats, but all he does is sleep on people. He's very bad at his job. Perhaps it has something to do with the butterfly bandage on his forehead... (Toys forthcoming?)

Anyways, I'll be (attempting to) paint these tomorrow so I'll either have scans or digital version then. For now... Adieu.

Dear Gravity...

Okay, so I'm starting work on prints again. No, I still haven't really worked much on Gambit but I'm getting to him. I started sketching a print based on the Fall Out Boy song Tiffany Blews. The girl here is (obviously) not Tiffany from Fall Out Toyworks. She might be slightly based on my friend Tiffany but whatevs. There's also a Squishy Thing and a This Isn't A Mashup Of Luke Chueh/Gir/Knucklebear/Carebear/Gloomy Bear, I Swear. My biggest inspiration is the line "Dear Gravity, you've held me down in this starless city". Eventually, those puddles will gain reflections of the watery and mostly starless variety... Eventually...

Edit: Oh, hi there, double entendre! How'd you sneak in there? :D

It's been a while...

So, posting! Woo! I know you missed me. If you're following my Twitter, I've been a bit... wrapped up in The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers of late. (For more info, see the official IC website.) But I've also been arting! There's a... an amount of stuff that's in my sketchbook and I'm too lazy to sketch, but mostly it's here. I should probably offer up some sort of explanation... But I'm sleepy so bed instead. If you can't make sense of it, chances are I can't explain it.

Tiny Fall Out Boy...

In tiny, tiny suits! So adorable! I honestly can't look at them without wanting to pinch their cheeks. Still trying to make a decision on the eyes though. They creep me out slightly with the being empty but I think they'll work three-dimensionally. These will be sculpted (like, by hand!) so I'll post progress as I go.

Semi-legible notes are only semi-legible (and bright red).

Model model model...

So, I've been modeling of late. Modeling and spazzing. In turns. These are the fruits of those efforts: a fairly androgynous basic male body that will serve as the basis for most of my models this semester. Ain't he sexy? About two nights of work. And spazzing. Can't forget the spazzing. Going to tone down those booty butt cheeks...

Demon Princes Aren't Always Princes...

This is my DomWar 4 entry, in her design stages. Updated sketch page, new sketch that I'm still working on, and lots of random notes to myself. Still no name or backstory. Soon, soon...

Touch it, bring it, pay it, watch it, burn it, leave it, stop. Format it.

So, makin' another post after a wonderfully exciting day spent mostly in my bed doodling and listening/watching Cobra Starship's stickam (more fun than it sounds, swears). Here, have the fruits (well, the ones by me) of my labor.

1. Scrapped sketch of Elle and Chester
2. Doodling of Queenie's Assassins, who don't yet have a formal name. Inspired by the paintings of Michael Hussar and fetish wear. That thing behind with the WTF chat? That'd be Cobra Starship's stickam. XD
3. Random guy drawn from memory, mostly of Gabe Saporta and various models. ... What?
4. Random demon guy, but I likes him so he stays. I'll be sprucing up those sad excuses for wings and making this a print. Also, more CS stickam.
5. Random warmup-ish doodles. Something that sort of became the Kid/00.05 from Umbrella Academy, a doodle inspired by CS songs, me seeing if my chibis would work as 3D models (lol, no, but I'll be shifting things around and tweaking because that style looks more disarmingly innocent), random hand sketch (which I will be using for 3D chibi concoctions), random eye ('cause I like semi-00.05's), and assorted off-hand pose sketches.

The end, run away now, kids.
