Model model model...

So, I've been modeling of late. Modeling and spazzing. In turns. These are the fruits of those efforts: a fairly androgynous basic male body that will serve as the basis for most of my models this semester. Ain't he sexy? About two nights of work. And spazzing. Can't forget the spazzing. Going to tone down those booty butt cheeks...

More Rings!

Just gonna edit this post from now on. Other one had too much text for that.

Oh goodness...

I kind of forgot I had a 3D modeling class and thus have about one month's worth of random modeling shit to catch up on overnight. That said, I'll be damned if I have to do it all in Form Z, which is 'tarded to the extreme (and makes excessive use of the letter 'z', which we all know went out in the 90's with all other forms of forcing xtreme on things). So! I'm using a combination of Maya and Z Brush, something I've only played with briefly. For this project, a pair of ring studies, I'm going Maya heavy. The one above is called "The Thorns Around My Heart", because I'd been drawing trees, which made me have an emo moment and designate a heart tree as one of my other projects, which led to further emo and thus this. ... Shut up, Grace (you're the only one who reads this blog and calls me emo, at least). So yeah. Mental ray and final gather's on with a pair of tweaked blinns for materials. Renders in under a minute. Not turning on caustics or global illumination. Oh fuck no. Maybe for a final beauty render or whatever you call it. Now, I'm gonna go extrude the other three bramble-y-mo-bobs then make rooty-things along the shank-a-ma-callit. ... No, I didn't learn a ton in this class, except that the back stairs in Anderson (which are actually in the front) are incredibly convenient when I'm late-ish. Which is often.

PS: The second ring is significantly easier and mirrorable. Thank god. The heart tree, however, is not. Awww... Why is the emo so hard? T.T

More Animation Junk

Just two things this time. My finished (and rigged, but you can't see it) Corgi and set (no background) from a ridiculously high angle, final render settings, no caustics or global illumination because they took too long and looked like crap respectively. Time to render this: 19 seconds. Damn, sometimes I'm good... Just one thing. Does it look enough like night yet? >.< Here's my remaining to-do list for this piece.
-finish blocking (tomorrow/today's task)
-animated like some kind of retarded fool-of-a-Took ('cause I am)
-paint skin weights
-paint the Corgi's eyes (because they're creepy right now)
-quickly repaint my background and the portrait for the picture frame one of these nights
-find a render farm I can use (for free!) and use the shit out of it/share the lab as a render farm with Adriel ._.;
-do the tiny bit of compositing and render that, burn to DVD/print to DV/backup in fifty million formats
-die at crits (it's more dramatic that way)

Still Alive

Just some quick renders (okay, one) and lighting tests from my animation. Oh god, so far behind! Be hopefully rigging will go fairly quickly and I can start actually animating. Halloween, my biggest holiday and distraction, has passed, so I can focus more now. Yay, focus! Enjoy, guys. I know I'll be enjoying me some all-nighters in a row, first of which was last night.
