It's been a while...

So, posting! Woo! I know you missed me. If you're following my Twitter, I've been a bit... wrapped up in The Rescue of Joseph Kony's Child Soldiers of late. (For more info, see the official IC website.) But I've also been arting! There's a... an amount of stuff that's in my sketchbook and I'm too lazy to sketch, but mostly it's here. I should probably offer up some sort of explanation... But I'm sleepy so bed instead. If you can't make sense of it, chances are I can't explain it.

Hyped On Sugar, Will Do Pose Sketches

Just some pose sketches I did this morning/last night while riding out a Mountain Dew fueled sugar high. Done on the lovely Cintiqs at school. Will be going home to shower and crash now.

Why yes, that is a new Desolation Row MCR background I've got going on there. You can't see it, but Bob Bryar is going to come through my screen one of these days and kill me dead. His face says so. The only way to fend him off will be puppies.

Touch it, bring it, pay it, watch it, burn it, leave it, stop. Format it.

So, makin' another post after a wonderfully exciting day spent mostly in my bed doodling and listening/watching Cobra Starship's stickam (more fun than it sounds, swears). Here, have the fruits (well, the ones by me) of my labor.

1. Scrapped sketch of Elle and Chester
2. Doodling of Queenie's Assassins, who don't yet have a formal name. Inspired by the paintings of Michael Hussar and fetish wear. That thing behind with the WTF chat? That'd be Cobra Starship's stickam. XD
3. Random guy drawn from memory, mostly of Gabe Saporta and various models. ... What?
4. Random demon guy, but I likes him so he stays. I'll be sprucing up those sad excuses for wings and making this a print. Also, more CS stickam.
5. Random warmup-ish doodles. Something that sort of became the Kid/00.05 from Umbrella Academy, a doodle inspired by CS songs, me seeing if my chibis would work as 3D models (lol, no, but I'll be shifting things around and tweaking because that style looks more disarmingly innocent), random hand sketch (which I will be using for 3D chibi concoctions), random eye ('cause I like semi-00.05's), and assorted off-hand pose sketches.

The end, run away now, kids.

I don't care what you think, just as long as it's about me.

Too much Fall Out Boy is bad for me but somehow spawned the above sketches. No idea how that works out. Folie A Deux on repeat equals an elven druid thing and a demon boy with a faux witchblade? ... Maybe I'll listen to more tomorrow. Going to try and do my concept work for my thesis. Anyways, done in Sketchbook Pro, in a sorry attempt to be more like the concept artists I so love. I've got a long way to go...

This is it...

Quitters never win. Nor do poorly drawn dark/night elves. I am sorry. I need to work on some prints for Katsucon. Seriously do. I should get to that some time... Yeah... Sorry about not posting?

30 Second Sketches

Oh god, exporting killed it! Now you really can't see what's going on! Not that you could have before...

So I'm working really hard on improving. First thing to do was to work on drawing from a model/life. I'm too poor to hire one so I choose the next best thing: the internet! And, because I'm allergic to porn (pfffft!), I used this nifty thing here to help me out. I was actually working okay just now until Grace randomly IM'd me and I kinda exploded on her. >.>; It was at the end of a sketch, so it's cool. But yeah. I'm hoping I really can do two five-minute sessions a day. These here were done in Manga Studio Debut but I'll probably be working in Painter or Photoshop from now on because I need to stop using line so much. In fact, here's a list of areas where I seriously need to focus and improve.

1. Focus >.<
2. Values
3. Lineless painting
4. Line weight
5. Perspective

Mini-Dump

I've been picking diligently away at various projects: con prep, a liberal arts project I'm using as a print making front (>.<), animation project (which I might also make prints from, since I'm painting things for it), and whatever other homework I have. So, here's a quick sketch dump.

The first is an Avatar: the Last Airbender style sketch of my character Annette. She'd definitely be Fire Nation, but I'm not sure if she'd be a bender. Her job would probably upgrade to personal bodyguard though. Maybe for Zuko? XD Personality and trigger-happiness would remain unchanged.
Second is a quick little Photoshop doodle done with Grace's tablet. I'm waiting for my new one to arrive, since the old one died.
Third is the last page of a storyboarding assignment to make a cereal commercial. There's this ridiculous milk tidal wave sequence that any animator would kill me for making. >.<
Fourth is a WiP of a painting I'm working on. Hoping to have it done as a print very soon. Hooray for elven queens?
Lastly is some pchat crap done on the Cintiq at school. Honestly, given a choice between a Cintiq and an Intuos, I'd probably pick the Intuos. The Cintiq is just too big and nowhere near portable. There's also a discrepancy between where you physically have the point and where the cursor is on screen. But doing the colors was so, so, so easy! Ah well, there's one at school so I'm set if I ever feel the need to use it again.

Masssive Art Dump!

Here's a fairly large dump of everything I've worked on since my last update. More or less.

First up, we have the finished, full version of this bookmark (titled Innocence Invocation), along with a random dynamic sketch of a conjurer in the middle of a jump (?!), and a quick paint test of the CG method I used for Innocence Invocation. I need to work on the technique and clean it up a lot, but I'll hopefully have it all worked out pretty soon.
Next is the sketch of Innocence Invocation and an WiP of the face. Yeah, I used color layers over a greyscale underpainting. Because... I'm cheap?
After that are the sketches if the pieces that will go to the winner of the Gaia group auction I did that Death card for way back in the summer. I'm hoping to finish those off within the week. Hoping...
Next is a little sampling of my chibis in the form of Tyki Mikk from D.Gray-man and my original character, Ameir, for the Shards of Aleysa RP I plan to get back into very shortly. Maybe within the week? Depends on how long it takes for the current goings-on to make it to the next day. XD
After that is a simple pose sketch. I never draw seated figures because I have so much trouble making them look natural. That still doesn't look entirely natural, but I think it's partly my color choice and heavily drawing through the figure...

Original: White Unicorn

Long time, no post! So, I decided to get cracking on that long list of art to do for cons and wanted to do a warm-up sketch first. But I'm really liking how this is turning out so I might just have to take it into Painter and try to do something awesome with it. XD Anyways, it's inspired by Wolfmother's "White Unicorn". You should give those guys a listen. They're pretty awesome. You probably know their songs "Joker and the Thief" and "Woman". Which should hopefully be getting pieces of their own. So yeah. I'm off to Painter now, I think.

New Lappy=New Sketch!

So, I've finally come back with sketches, woo! I've also got a shiny new Macbook Pro that is seriously in need of some sticker lovin'. I'll take care of that later. First, my very first finished sketch on Tyche, the new lappy.
I've got stuff in my sketchbook from during Orientation, but I need to see if I can get Mac-compatible drivers for my scanner first. Otherwise, crappy iSight pics are coming to a blog near you! Woo! Ummm, yeah. That's about it. I'm still open for commissions, just take a look at my prices and ordering process in the last post.

A few things to start us off...

A gift for my friend, Grace, of her OC Rivek Ailinar. Take a look at her gallery here: fongmingyun@DA. She's amazing with, well, anything, but especially a pencil. She's also doing a Gaia auction each day of August. If you're a member and on the wealthy side of things, definitely go bid. Or commission her IRL. I have and have never been disappointed.

The Death card of the Major Arcana of the Tarot for a Gaia Auction. This is just the pencil sketch. I plan on inking it later today and doing some color work in PS.

Some warm-up sketches from two days ago. Details can be found on my LJ. Done in PS CS.
