Tiffany Blews (Dear Gravity...) Progress

If you're following me on twitter, you'll be privy to all sorts of things! Not just my inane chatter, but things like progress updates on the stuff I'm working on! Currently working on my Tiffany Blews print, the Sad Statue (Road Kamelot and Allen Walker with Maria cameo from D.Gray-man) print, and the sexy pinups of Gambit, Sephiroth, and Viral. Portraits are done and I made the edits to Smoke Rings. Man, this whole process is insane... I might go crazy doing all these prints. At least I won't have many to do for New York Anime Festival. By the way, I'm going to NYAF...

Follow the twitter for updates as well as live art streams. Because I totes do live streaming now. livestream.com/madpierrot.

Touch me, baby, but don't mess up my hair...

Oh, Lady Gaga lyrics... Anyways, print progress! This here is the sketch for the sexified Sephiroth print. I'm having a lot of fun with the sketch but I KNOW I'm going to hate it when it comes to the inks. Which... are really only inks in name. Whatever. Here it is, with bonus face closeup (and a view of the cover for the new Cobra Starship album, Hot Mess). You'll probably be able to follow my progress tomorrow on my Twitter. By the way, I fail SO HARD at eyes. I can never make both look like they belong on the same face. T^T

No guaruntees though. Mooshu and I are doing a Tank Girl collab, effective tomorrow. She's doing the base sketch, I'm doing clothes, she's doing inks, I'm doing colors. We're both thumbnailing and coming up with stuff. Look forward to it!

EDIT FOR GAMBIT PROGRESS! His flats are done. His, ahem, body hair will be a finishing touch. As will Sephiroth's. Surely, this will make the tweenie anime loving girls squeal and flock to my table at cons. Also, anatomy and skin practice, woo! And hair. I like doing hair...

Two Cups Into My Coffee Break...

Lots of stuff this time around, and mostly finished too! Amazing, right?
These are two Gurren Lagann prints I've been working on for Otakon. Yoko is done. Adiane should be finished soon but I'm taking a break so that I can work on my other prints. Namely, Gambit. I sort of want to get those flats done as soon as possible. Why?

This is the progress on my business card design/logo. I'm done now. It goes from bottom to top because I'm slow and didn't realize that it would upload this way. Oops? Whatevs.

What else, what else...? I'm plotting more sketch cards. For now though, I just have A Case Of The Mondays, Angie, and a Deer Boy that I'll be painting soon. I sort of want to make a cute little Deer Boy Munny because I'm a total fan, okay? Okay.

Sketch Cards

So, I've been doing these sketch cards for, like, three days for absolutely no reason. I've got three right now and I'm working on more. They're in the order I did them, actually.

First is Emo Boy, whose speech bubble now has appropriately emo lyrics (from the hidden spoken word track part of "...but home is nowhere" from AFI's Sing The Sorrow).

Second is this... Audrey II (Little Shop Of Horrors) thing. I don't know, really I don't.

Third are my newest characters, Bear Thing and Squishy from the Tiffany Blews print. Bear Thing is a robot companion who doesn't really do much of anything. He was designed to be a protector but, well, he's not very fast and can only waddle. He's not going to do a good job of protecting anything. The bear suit is meant to make him look deceptively cute. Squishy is meant to alert him to potential threats, but all he does is sleep on people. He's very bad at his job. Perhaps it has something to do with the butterfly bandage on his forehead... (Toys forthcoming?)

Anyways, I'll be (attempting to) paint these tomorrow so I'll either have scans or digital version then. For now... Adieu.

Dear Gravity...

Okay, so I'm starting work on prints again. No, I still haven't really worked much on Gambit but I'm getting to him. I started sketching a print based on the Fall Out Boy song Tiffany Blews. The girl here is (obviously) not Tiffany from Fall Out Toyworks. She might be slightly based on my friend Tiffany but whatevs. There's also a Squishy Thing and a This Isn't A Mashup Of Luke Chueh/Gir/Knucklebear/Carebear/Gloomy Bear, I Swear. My biggest inspiration is the line "Dear Gravity, you've held me down in this starless city". Eventually, those puddles will gain reflections of the watery and mostly starless variety... Eventually...

Edit: Oh, hi there, double entendre! How'd you sneak in there? :D

Emma Frost Portrait

Oh, hey, look, this has absolutely nothing to do with vinyl toys! What a shock! Anyways, this is a portrait of Emma Frost, also know as the White Queen, of X-Men fame. Now, you may be wondering why on Earth I did a portrait of Emma instead of, say, finishing my Gambit print. Quite simply. As Grace so loving put it, I am a fangirl. This is a (belated) birthday gift for Andy Hurley, the drummer of Fall Out Boy. Sad? Maybe. Still pretty nice, all things considered? I like to think so. Now to plot for Pete's birthday... XD Comment on it either here or on deviantART.

Edit: (from a tweet of mine) "OH MY FUCKING GOD, HE LIKES IT! I IS DEAD NAO, OKAY!? OKAY!" By the way, really tempted to tweet the following: "Hey, @mikeyway, he likes it! :D"

Oh right...

New post over on Side Effect, the other blog. I swear I'm going to get back to art that's a bit more mainstream at some point. And by mainstream, I guess I mean not mainstream at all. Gambit print. I'm all over that shit, like, after I finish this vinyl. And maybe the next one. And the Dunnys I've got planned... Just kidding, it's next. Or now, maybe.

Urban Vinyl Toys: The Reckoning

Nope, the title makes absolutely no sense. So anyway, I have a wholly different blog for my vinyls, which I share with Mooshu. That would be It's Not A Side-Effect Of The Fumes, I'm Thinking It Must Be Cute. You can see my latest post here But check out the main link to see Mooshu's Ninja Cat. It's adorable.

Urban Vinyl Toys: The Beginning...

Somewhat recently(ish), I've gotten into the whole art of customizing vinyl toys, such as the sort you'd find at Kidrobot. So far, I've painted two: a Mini Munny and a 3" Dunny. Above are a few photos of both in my workspace, as well as mini photoshoots with the Mini Munny on South Street. For further info on both, as well as eventual purchasing (within the coming week, I should think), feel free to visit my Big Cartel shop. I'll continue posting these here until I upgrade my flickr account (which I might have kind of reached the upload limit on while making a massive dump of those concert photos...) and will link to my shop when they're to go up for sale. For more immediate updates (plus rambling, fangirling, and assorted nonsense), follow me on Twitter.
